Aan de Douro in Portugal worden de portwijnen geproduceerd. Aan Portwijnen worden tijdens de fermentatie extra alcohol toegevoegd waardoor de fermentatie stopt voordat alle suikers zijn omgezet. Hierdoor ontstaat een zoete wijn met een alcoholgehalte van ca 20%. Portwijnen worden gerijpt in Ruby en in Tawny kwaliteit. Bij Ruby wijnen wordt ieder contact met zuurstof zoveel mogelijk vermeden, waardoor maximaal fruitsmaak behouden blijft. Bij Tawny wijnen wordt tijdens de rijping op houtvaten regelmatig contact met zuurstof gemaakt, waardoor de wijn zijn specifieke fruitigheid wat verliest, de tannines zachter worden en de kleur wat lichter bruin. De Port in deze Tawny heeft minimaal 10 jaar gerijpt en daardoor proef je gedroogd fruit, krenten en rozijnen, vermengd met specerijen, een mooie complexe smaak. Omdat een Tawny port gewend is in contact met zuurstof te zijn, kan je een Tawny, in tegenstelling tot een Ruby, na opening nog een aantal maanden bewaren.
Deze wijn is gemaakt van de druiven Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz en Tinto Cao.
