In de Adventure by Book-serie bepalen jouw keuzes hoe het verhaal zich voortzet. Elk stripboek is een eigen verhaal op zich. In de plaatjes zijn cijfers verstopt die de opties weergeven die jouw personage kan nemen. Onderweg zul je puzzels oplossen, voorwerpen verzamelen en gevaren ontwijken om het best mogelijke verhaal te vertellen. Hierbij zijn er meerdere routes beschikbaar voordat je het einddoel behaalt. Na 1 x spelen ben je dus nog lang niet klaar. En bovendien zal je, wanneer je de verkeerde keuzes maakt, verliezen en opnieuw moeten beginnen. Net als in elk ander spel. ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is een spannende avonturenpuzzel in stripvorm waar spelers in de huid van de legendarische detective kruipen. Volg het spoor, verhoor verdachten, en zoek naar aanwijzingen om de zaak op te lossen. Denk jij de daders te slim af te kunnen zijn?
