Deze Mencia van Merayo is een stralend heldere rood-paarse wijn met intense aroma’s van verse bosbessen, kersen, frambozen, cassis, viooltjes en kruiden. Het heeft verfrissende zuren en zachte, rijpe tannines. Licht gekoeld is deze wijn het lekkerst bij lichte kip- en vleesgerechten, diverse pasta’s en licht pittige gerechten.
In 2010 na 20 jaar met zorg en toewijding voor zijn wijngaarden te hebben gezorgd, begon Pedro Merayo zijn eigen Bodegas y Viñedos Merayo en tegenwoordig omvat het domein 10 hectare wijngaarden. De wijngaarden liggen op 600-670 meter hoogte en zijn aangeplant met mencía, godello en een klein beetje doña blanca. De druiven worden na de oogst licht gekneusd en ingeweekt en het sap ondergaat gedurende 10 dagen een alcoholische fermentatie in roestvrijstalen tanks. Vervolgens rijpt de wijn zes maanden op zijn lie.
