Seitan, wat gemaakt van eiwitten betekent, komt vanuit Japan, waar het al eeuwenlang op traditionele wijze wordt bereid en geconsumeerd als een bron van eiwitten. Seitan werd in het Westen ontdekt met de komst van natuurlijk voeding. Oorspronkelijk wordt seitan gemaakt van tarwe. We produceren al 25 jaar deze traditionele tarwe seitan. De blok kan verscneden worden in kleine blokjes, stukjes of sneedjes. De blok kan ook verhakt worden tot gehakt en dienen voor gehaktbereidingen. Dunne sneedjes kunnen zonder bereiding gebruikt worden als broodbeleg. Sneedjes of blokjes 5 minuten bakken of grillen aan beide zeiden. De volledige blok kan ook in de verpakking gekookt worden in kokend water (45min.) of gedurende 50 minuten in een oven van 170° (zonder verpakking). Dit zeer eiwitrijke product is de perfecte vleesvervanger.
