Curcuma with blooming red / purple flowers

The plant is native to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and India and is reasonably air-purifying. It comes from the jungle there and therefore likes moist soil and high humidity.

It is related to the turmeric that we eat and it grows under the earth from a kind of tubers / stems that we know from the turmeric roots.

This plant loves a lot of sun light and also likes a lot of water. Watering it two times a week will be ideal. To be sure, always feel with your finger in the soil of the pot. When the soil is dry, you can water it again.Try to pay attention not to water too much, by placing your (whole) finger into the ground. When the flowers have finished blooming and turn yellow / brown, you can cut the stems as close to the soil as possible.That ensures the plant will have more energy for new flowers and leaves.
