Forel is een uiterst succesvolle en populaire kweekvis. In Europa wordt deze vis vooral gekweekt in Denemarken, Frankrijk en Italië. De karakteristieke smaak en het aangename vlees vallen bij veel visliefhebbers in de smaak. De forel hoort tot de familie van de zalmachtige. Er bestaan vele soorten waarvan de regenboogforel de bekendste is. De Deense forel is dankzij de intelligente en duurzame kweekmethodes een kwalitatief hoogstaande optie. Een andere populaire forelsoort is de zalmforel, die door zijn roze kleur amper te onderscheiden valt van de roze zalm.
