La BIO IDEA pasta wordt op Sicilië gemaakt door Fattoria Barbagallo, een familiebedrijf dat al in 1911 werd opgericht. De Barbagallos maken al bijna 100 jaar op ambachtelijke wijze de lekkerste Italiaanse pasta van de beste durum tarwe uit Sicilië. Angelo Barbagallo, van de derde generatie , zwaait nu de scepter over de pastamakerij, waar de tarwe helemaal wordt verwerkt van graankorrels tot de verpakte pasta. Barbagallo beoordeelt zelf de tarwekwaliteit, maalt het meel in 24 stappen en droogt de gevormde pasta langzaam op lage temperatuur. Dat alles is essentieel voor de uiteindelijke kwaliteit van la BIO IDEA pasta.
