Description
Deze Spaanse saffraan is afkomstig van de saffraankrokus. Waarom saffraan een duur product is komt omdat deze bloem maar 8 dagen per jaar groeit en omdat elke bloem maar drie stampers heeft. Zo zijn ongeveer 150 saffraankrokussen nodig voor het leveren van 1 gram saffraan!
De saffraan geeft een warme aroma aan het gerecht, wat subtiel aanwezig is. Het wordt erg veel gebruikt in de oosterse keuken, maar het is ook erg lekker bij bijvoorbeeld risotto's, paella en curry's.
