Individual pieces of tagliatelle are long, flat ribbons that are similar in shape to fettuccine and are typically about 6.5 to 10 mm (0.26 to 0.39 in) wide. Tagliatelle's name originates from the Italian verb "tagliare," which means to cut. It's similar to fettuccine, but is generally a bit narrower. It’s easy to mistake tagliatelle and fettuccine. In fact, in some parts of Italy, cooks refer to tagliatelle as fettucine. Both types of pasta look like flattened spaghetti and are a similar width, but tagliatelle will be a little thicker of a bite. It can also handle thick meat sauces, but it’ll do a cream or tomato sauce justice, too. Use
Count about 125 grams per person. 1. Bring 1L of water to the boil per 100 grams of pasta. 2. Slide into the water and bring the water to the boil again, stirring occasionally. 3. Cook for 4 minutes. Stir now and then. 4. Drain and serve.
