TemeT Tri Morave Reserva White 2019
Tamjanika*
Serbia, Jagodina, Lozovik

Bright amber coloured wine with golden reflections.
An attractive interplay of elderflower, nutmeg, baked apple, clementine peel and dried herbs create a vertiginous sensory bouquet.
On the palate, the wine is juicy and broad, striking a harmonious balance between fruity and floral elements with a gentle touch of savoury notes merging with yellow tropical fruit.
The structured nature leads you towards an appealing dash of balanced citrus peel marmalade on the long mineral finish.

Overall, this is a fantastic orange wine and glorious representation of the Tamjanika grape variety.
The pure grapey and floral flavours, attractive minerality and beautiful depth highlight the uniqueness of this ancient grape variation.

Maceration on the skin for 8 months. Sur-Lie aged for 10 months in Serbian oak barrels, then 10 months in an amphora.

A versatile gastronomic wine, pairing greatly with stuffed turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and just as well with vegan or vegetarian greens, beans, and pumpkin dishes.

* Although sometimes dubbed as a native Serbian grape, Tamjanika is often described as a local twin of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, yet its origins remain relatively unknown and unconfirmed.
To add a layer of complexity, even if there is any relation with Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, Muscat is actually a grape with Greek origins. It was likely introduced to France by the Greeks through their trading port at Marseille (Massalia) and later spread to the Narbonne region by the Romans during their conquest of Gaul.
Tamjanika is cultivated in Serbia and neighbouring countries, primarily used in the production of dry wines. The name of the grape stems from the local term for frankincense (tamjan), presumably inspired by the strong spicy scent of the grapes. While red-skinned Tamjanika exists, it is relatively rare, yet often acclaimed for its exceptional quality.

Yes, we also happen to have wine made from this red-skinned Tamjanika; in Serbia, it is called Crna Tamjanika (Black Muscat).
The wine is named Veca from Bikicki Winery, and it is indeed an extraordinary wine.
