Tempeh bevat veel eiwitten en heeft een vleesachtige structuur, daarom is het ideaal om te gebruiken in vegetarische of veganistische gerechten. Het wordt gemaakt van gefermenteerde sojabonen en komt van oorsprong uit Indonesië waar het nog steeds veel gegeten wordt. Tempeh is erg lekker in Oosterse gerechten en het kent veel toepassingen in de macrobiotische keuken. Door de nootachtige smaak is het erg lekker in salades of door roerbakgerechten. Je kunt de tempeh ook marineren en daarna bakken, voor extra veel smaak!
