over de ontwerper:
George Sowden studeerde architectuur aan de Gloucestershire College of Art. In 1970 verhuisde hij naar Milaan om samen te werken met o.a. Ettore Sottsass en Olivetti, met wie hij in jaren tachtig de Memphis Groep vormde, een designcollectief. George Sowden won verschillende designprijzen, zoals de prestigieuze 'Compasso d'Oro Award' en woont en werkt in Milaan. Voor HAY ontwierp hij diverse producten zoals een broodrooster, waterkoker, zoutmolen, pepermolen en een reisbeker.
