Description
Ivan en zijn klasgenoten krijgen op school de jaaropdracht om een boek te schrijven. Dat is het laatste waar Ivan op zit te wachten en hij heeft de titel meteen klaar: Dat stomme boek. Omdat hij toch wat moet verzinnen, beschrijft hij een paar dagen uit zijn eigen leven.
Zijn verhaal gaat over hoe hij samen met zijn moeder en zusje op zoek is gegaan naar zijn plotseling verdwenen vader. De reis voert naar Berlijn en is zo bizar, spannend en grappig tegelijk, dat je het boek volgens Ivan in één ruk uit wilt lezen. Als hij tijdens de zoektocht de Engelse Jo en haar hond Max ontmoet, komt het verhaal tot een onverwachte climax.
