De 12-jarige Puca zit vaak onder de grijparmboom op haar dierenbegraafplaats in het bos. Ze vraagt zich af hoe ze ervoor kan zorgen dat de tijd sneller gaat. Over zes weken mag ze namelijk naar de middelbare school. Dan zal alles anders zijn en zal niemand haar nog raar vinden. Ze kan niet wachten, maar de zomervakantie duurt eindeloos lang. Op een dag zit er ineens een jongen bij haar boom, Rover. Hij wil zich vervelen. Ieder uur, iedere minuut. Dat rekt de tijd op als een elastiek, zegt hij. Puca snapt niets van hem. Als ze Rovers verdrietige geheim ontdekt, raakt Puca in verwarring. Ze moet een besluit nemen. Gaat ze Rover helpen om de tijd te vertragen?
