De Finse designpionier Oiva Toikka zocht een manier om de verbindingen in glas te verbergen. Tijdens die zoektocht ontwikkelde hij het baanbrekende Kastehelmi-ontwerp. Kastehelmi speelt met licht waardoor de schoonheid van het glas wordt weerkaatst. De geliefde Kastehelmi-collectie van Iittala bestaat uit een breed scala aan veelzijdige stukken die zowel functioneel als decoratief zijn. De zachte gloed van het Kastehelmi-sfeerlicht zorgt voor een warme ambiance. Opvallend in zijn eentje of in een groepje bij elkaar. Een mooi geschenk.

Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is één van de grootste namen van de Finse glaskunst. Zijn fantasierijke, gedurfde glaskunst heeft als startpunt mainstream Scandinavisch design. De stijl van Toikka is duidelijk terug te zien in de gebruiksvoorwerpen die hij ontwerpt. Vaak vinden ze hun oorsprong in de traditionele strakke lijnen en puurheid van de Finse designesthetiek. Hij werkte niet alleen met glas, maar ontwierp ook decors, mode en kunststof woonaccessoires.
