SMAAK
Diep en complex. Zacht in aanzet, waarna tonen van mout, kruiden, zilt en rook loskomen. Romig met een hint van sinaasappel in de ondertoon.
AFDRONK
Een complexe mooie afdronk met sinaasappel, een licht bittertje met tonen van noten en koffiebonen begeleid door die typische rokerige kruidige smaak.
CULINAIR
Deze whisky verdient de volle aandacht om puur te drinken en er optimaal van te genieten.
BIJZONDERHEDEN
Quarter Cask haalt haar inspiratie uit de kleine vaten die vaak gebruikt werden voor Scotch Whisky in de 19e eeuw en werden getransporteerd over de Glens per pakpaard. Maar toen de industrie groeide werden de kleine vaten vervangen door grotere en meer kosteneffectieve vaten.
Maar echte single malt liefhebbers weten dat de relatie tussen de vaten en rijping van cruciaal belang is. In een kleiner vat heeft de whisky tot 30% meer contact met het hout en wordt het rijpingsproces versterkt. Om nog meer authenticiteit aan de Quarter Cask te geven, wordt de whisky op barrière gefilterd zoals men dat in het verleden deed en wordt het gebotteld op een hoger alcoholgehalte.
Het resultaat is verrassend en verblijdend. De extra eiken invloed zorgt voor een zachte zoetheid, die als fluweel aanvoelt bij de eerste slok.
