This is an outdoor, easy to grow bonsai. It has beautiful, lime-green foliage during spring, which turns golden yellow in summer and may even show a hint of orange in autumn. Although it originates from southern China it is quite hardy in mild temperature climates. Place in full sun during the growing season, but note that it may need protection from hard frosts in cool temperate regions. Chinese Larch needs regular watering in summer as foliage will shrivel if this isn’t done. A light feeding in early spring is usually sufficient to keep the tree healthy.

Care:

Sunlight: Strong Indirect sunlight, and preferably more than 6 hours of sunlight. Avoid sunlight that is too bright 

Water: water frequently (especially in the summer) and not let the soil be dried out. Around 2 times a week, but can be more or less frequent depending on humidity levels and amount of light received. Watering the plant less frequently in the winter.

The best practice is to use your finger to feel the soil, it should not be overly soggy or overly dry. It should be slightly moist with the top layer of soil only a bit dry.

How to water: immerse the entire bonsai plant in a bucket or basin of water for about 10 minutes. Once the air bubbles have risen to the top, the bonsai has absorbed enough water.

Fertilizer: add a bit of bonsai plant food during growing seasons every few weeks will be appreciated by your bonsai. No plant food is necessary in the winter.
