Daniel Cole keert met Mimic terug naar de wereld van zijn Ragdoll-serie, met een zenuwslopend nieuw verhaal over een seriemoordenaar die ’s werelds grootste kunstwerken nabootst… met de lichamen van zijn slachtoffers.
1989. Rechercheur Benjamin Chambers en zijn sidekick Adam Winters zijn op het spoor van een seriemoordenaar die een bizarre passie heeft voor het imiteren van de grootste kunstwerken uit de geschiedenis, met behulp van de lichamen van zijn slachtoffers. Maar de zaak loopt dood door gebrek aan bewijs. De moordenaar gaat ondergronds, zijn verzameling is niet af. Zeven jaar later komt rechercheur Marshall met nieuw bewijs en haakt zij aan om de zaak te heropenen. Dat brengt evenwel ook een nieuwe golf van gruwel op gang. Het team bewandelt een dunne lijn tussen het zoeken naar gerechtigheid en het spelen voor eigen rechter in hun jacht op een monster dat veel gevaarlijker en intelligenter is dan wie ook ooit had verwacht…
