Tot zijn verbazing wordt Obbe aangewezen als de Raadselbreker. Hij moet het boek in veiligheid brengen. Met tegenzin begint hij aan een levensgevaarlijke reis door Norgië.
Onderweg ontmoet hij Darja en samen met haar neemt hij het op tegen rovers, beesten en nevelgeesten. Maar vooral tegen de kwaadaardige Rafenna, die alles op alles zet om het Zevende Boek in haar bezit te krijgen.
