In het jaar 2024 vierde de Peugeot 205 GTI zijn 40e verjaardag. De reis begon 1984 met de introductie van de eerste Peugeot 205 GTI, voorzien van een 1.6 L motor, welke 105 pk produceerde.
1986 kwam Peugeot dan met de versie met een 1.9 L motor, die 130 pk ontwikkelde en bevestigde daarmee zijn reputatie als "high perfomance" kleine sportwagen. Zijn buitengewoon chassis, laag gewicht en kracht maakt de 205 GTI tot een succesvol model, dat nu zeer gezocht is onder auto enthusiasten.
Intussen een icoon onder de "youngtimers" word de Peugeot 205 GTI fanatiek verzameld. Deze miniatuur, detailgetrouw naar het origineel, heeft de Blanc Meije lak, zachte plastic wielen en de karakteristieke velgen van de 1.9 L versies.
