De Funko Pop! van Nederlands' misschien wel beroemdste schilder is natuurlijk altijd een leuk aandenken of cadeau. Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890), die ook enige jaren van zijn leven in Den Haag doorbracht, heeft helaas niets meegekregen van zijn tegenwoordig onmetelijke beroemdheid en zijn grote invloed op de kunst van de 20e eeuw. Ook al verwierf hij in zijn laatste jaren wel enige bekendheid in selecte kunstkringen, heeft hij nooit ook maar een van zijn ruim 2000 werken weten te verkopen, terwijl Van Goghs beroemdste schilderijen zoals Zonnebloemen, De sterrennacht, Café d'Arles, Amandelbloesem of Slaapkamer in Arles vandaag vele tientallen miljoen euro opbrengen op veilingen. Mede door zijn tragische leven dat eindigde in zijn keus voor de zelfdood is hij nu als het ware een cult held of icoon van de Europese cultuur en past daarom uitstekend in de serie kunstenaars van Funko Pop!
