Johannesbroodpoeder is een zoet alternatief voor cacaopoeder. Het wordt gewonnen uit de vrucht van de johannesbroodboom en bevat van nature suiker, dus er hoeft niets aan te worden toegevoegd. Voor de productie worden de peulen geplet en zorgvuldig gescheiden van de zaden. Na het drogen worden de johannesbroodpeulen verder verwerkt tot het unieke poeder.
De smaak is een combinatie van zoet en moutig, met een licht bittere toets die doet denken aan karamel. Het is ideaal voor bakken, desserts of het mixen van een cacao-achtige drank.
