The Rim Rock Vineyard is Piedrasassi's flagship site, lying only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean on an outcropping of weathered shale. The ground is almost entirely made up of small stones with only a margin of clay. Consequently, yields are always meagre here. This is one of California's most unique Syrah sites, requiring very little "farming." The vines just naturally produce excellent grapes.
Big flavours of black currants, violets, mushrooms, crushed white pepper, dusty tannins, and a long aftertaste of wild blueberries and fresh mint. We thoroughly recommend cellaring for several years before opening.
