Iedereen heeft wel een reden waarom hij doet zoals hij doet. Bij Erie is die reden een stoornis. Tenminste, dat zegt haar therapeut. Erie háát dat woord. Het klinkt alsof je gestoord bent. Nu gaat ze niet meer naar school, want in haar veilige huis midden in het bos zijn geen klasgenoten, geen prikkels, geen stress… en dus ook geen stoornis. Probleem opgelost!
Erie besluit zelf te onderzoeken waarom mensen doen wat ze doen. En de perfecte plek daarvoor is De Vliegenzwam. Een huisjespark in het bos. Daar ontmoet ze Bas. Wat doet hij nou in het bos, in zijn rolstoel? Waarom doet hij zo aardig? Net als Erie denkt dat ze de antwoorden heeft, blijkt Bas een heel andere reden te hebben. Een die haar leven helemaal op z’n kop zet…
