BIJZONDERHEDEN
Tia Maria is de bekende koffielikeur die wordt gemaakt van100% arabica bonen, Madagaskar Vanille en Jamaican rum. De koffieboon die gebruikt wordt is de Jamaica Blue Mountain boon. Deze bonen staan bekend om zijn milde en niet bittere smaak, zijn een van duurste koffiesoorten ter wereld en zijn een essentieel onderdeel bij de productie van Tia Maria. Bij de productie wordt er tevens gebruik gemaakt van de zogenaamde Cold Brew methode. Cold Brew is een methode om koffie te zetten zonder koffiezetapparaat en het wordt gebrouwen met koud water. Dat proces duurt ongeveer 24 uur en het resultaat is een sterke koffie die geen zure smaak heeft, wat koffiezetten met heet water wel kan hebben. Door de sterke en intense smaak is deze koffie ideaal als basis voor Tia Maria, omdat je juist in een likeur geen zure koffietonen wilt hebben.De smaak wordt door velen gezien als de standaard van koffielikeuren en wordt vaak gebruikt als basis voor diverse cocktails.
