Description
De Laphroaig Quarter Cask Whisky is een Single Malt Whisky uit de Islay regio in Schotland. Laphroaig Quarter Cask rijpt in kleinere 'quarter casks' wat de whisky blootstelt aan meer hout. Dit geeft de Islay single malt Scotch whisky een fluweelzachte rand in aanvulling op de turfrook. De whisky krijgt extra smaak door de dubbele rijping in twee vaten Amerikaans eikenhout. Deze single malt heeft een diepe en complexe smaak, met hints van kokos en banaan. De afdronk is lang en droogt op de tong, waar de whisky een vleug rook en kruiden achterlaat.
Laphroaig staat bekend om zijn rijk gearomatiseerde Scotch whisky. Laphroaig, opgericht in 1815, is een van de weinige distilleerderijen die nog steeds gebruik maken van traditionele moutvloeren. Zoals van een echte Islay single malt verwacht wordt doordrenkt Laphroaig zijn mout met de dikke blauwe rook van oude turf gestookte ovens.
