Rucola ‘Selvatica’ kiemt wat trager dan normale rucola; een bodemtemperatuur van circa 20 graden is wenselijk. Leg een homogeen zaaibed aan, zonder grote kluiten. De bladeren kunnen gedurende een lange periode, vanaf ongeveer 8 weken na het zaaien, geoogst worden. Bloemen regelmatig verwijderen.
Zaaien kan best op rijtjes - afstand 10-15 cm - vanaf begin mei tot ver in de herfst. Eenmaal per 3 à 4 weken in kleine porties uitzaaien geeft een goede oogstspreiding. Vroeg uitzaaien (maart en april) wordt afgeraden in verband met vroegtijdig schieten. Bij een late uitzaai onder glas (oktober) kan men gedurende een heel lange periode in de winter van dit gewas genieten, risico van vorstschade is klein.
TIP: ook geschikt als babyleaf (zaaiperiode: april-september)!
