Tijm ‘Duitse Winter’ is een meerjarig keuken- en heelkruid. De blaadjes en stengeltoppen worden zowel vers als gedroogd gebruikt. Na de bloei verdient het de aanbeveling de planten af te snijden, zodat ze weer jonge uitlopers vormen en beter de winter door komen. Tijm wordt gekenmerkt door paars-achtige buisvormige bloempjes. Tijm wordt veelvuldig in pastagerechten gebruikt.
Teelt in vollegrond:
- Voorzaaien: maart - april.
- Uitplanten: mei
- Rechtstreeks zaaien: mei - juni.
- Oogsten: juli - augustus.
