Zomertijm is een meerjarig keukenkruid, en maakt mooie malse stengels met sterk geurige blaadjes. Tijm is een onmisbaar kruid in de mediterrane keuken.
Zomertijm is wat minder winterhard dan Tijm ‘Duitse Winter’. Een voordeel van zomertijm is dat deze een stuk vlotter groeit dan Tijm ‘Duitse Winter’, en de stengels zijn daardoor ook malser, en wat minder houtig.
Teelt in vollegrond:
- Voorzaaien: maart-april.
- Uitplanten: mei.
- Rechtstreeks zaaien: mei - juni.
- Oogsten: juli-augustus.
