Het beeldje van Mitsuhirato is van hars gemaakt en maakt deel uit van de reeks mooie beeldjes die ontworpen en vervaardigd zijn in overeenstemming met de details van de tekeningen van Hergé.

In De blauwe Lotus, het vijfde album uit de reeks Kuifje en zijn avonturen, maakt Mitsuhirato, een Japanse zakenman in Shanghai, in opdracht van de Japanse geheime dienst Kuifje op verschillende manieren het leven zuur. Hij is eigenaar van de opiumkit De blauwe Lotus van waaruit Kuifje hem volgt en even later ziet hoe de spion met enkele handlangers een spoorweglijn opblaast. Het is de bedoeling de Chinezen de schuld hiervoor in de schoenen te schuiven om de Japanse regering zo een aanleiding te geven om China binnen te vallen. Mitsuhirato is een van de meest radicale karakters uit de stripserie, pleegt hij aan het eind van het verhaal toch Harakiri, zelfmoord dus.
